We’re often asked what style of music we play. We usually look at each other and respond “Folk-Rock?” “Unplugged Pop?” “Electric ejectamenta?” Our repertoire is varied and eclectic. The one unifying thread is an emphasis on vocals. We think of ourselves as a 3-part vocal group … to which we add a few instruments; sometimes acoustic, sometimes electric.

Singing together is a wonderful experience since we are from completely different musical backgrounds. Each performance gives us a wonderful sense of connection, not just between ourselves but with the people who share this with us. We love the intimacy of smaller events which allow us to embrace our audience in our performance.

Aja was born into music – her father was a punk rocker in the 70’s, but she took a different direction. Classically trained in opera, her specialty is Baroque music, which took her from her home in Australia to the home of opera in Vienna (if you are lucky, the opera gown may come out).

Fergus also lived with music all his life – he is part of the great Irish tradition which sees all the instruments come out whenever the family gets together and where everybody must take a turn. Being a student in Heidelberg also gave him a love for loud pub rock (chance of an Irish Rugby jersey appearing?).

Geoff first encountered music in primary school (playing in the brass band) which somehow morphed into playing in house bands of various Sydney clubs and cabarets, sometimes touring with visiting international artists (the tuxedo is now retired).

But you’d still like to know what music we play?

Well … songs from Snow Patrol, Otis Redding, White Stripes, The Mamas and the Papas, Ani DiFranco, Radiohead, Lorde, Skunk Anansie and Daniela Andrade. Eclectic - like when Sam Cooke leads us into The Police; or Portishead with Frank Zappa and The Beatles, and no-one should miss Fergus doing Paul Kossoff’s guitar solo in Free’s “All Right Now” … on balalaika.
